Why Rukou Exists
Most AI projects never reach production. The technology is rarely what fails. Projects start building before deciding what kind of system the problem needs.
The failure modes are predictable. Adaptive, judgment-based problems get treated as deterministic ones. An emulation gets built where a simulation would do. Sometimes the workflow never needed automation at all.
We started Rukou because we kept seeing this pattern. Knowing how to build an agent is the easy part. The harder question is what kind of system each one should be.

Classification First
Every automation opportunity must be classified before it's built. Each one is either a Simulation (deterministic, measurable) or an Emulation (adaptive, orchestrated). Misclassifying at this step is the most common failure we see.
Foundation Before Complexity
Build simulations first, then layer in emulation complexity. Projects stall when they start with the hardest problem instead of the most useful one.
Zero Black Boxes
Every decision an agent makes should be auditable and explainable. If you can't see what it's doing, you can't trust it. Every system we ship logs what it did and why.
You Can't Automate Intuition
Some workflows shouldn't be automated. When that's the case, we say so. Human-in-the-loop is good architecture for problems that need judgment.
